About the society

Our story

We founded Limelight (formerly NUSical) seeing the huge surge in musical theatre popularity after huge shows like Hamilton, Phantom of the Opera, and Miss Saigon took Singapore by storm. Student musical theatre is a tiny scene in Singapore, and our mission is to make it more accessible for all with constant productions, workshops, and other fun musical-related activities!

Our first show was Project: Overture, a showcase cabaret of many of our favourite musical theatre songs. This was held with the support of NUS Office of Student Affairs, Centre for the Arts' third space initiative, at the UTown Dance Ateliers.

Following this, we started working on a full-fledged jukebox musical, featuring many songs from popular classics like Epic: The Musical, Wicked, and so much more. We staged Rewritten at the UTown Auditorium in 2026 to an audience of over 200, involving a total of over 20 cast and crew in the process.

Our latest production is our original book and score musical, The Projection, staged at Yale-NUS Hall on 1 November 2026. We recruited a team of a dozen songwriters, 20+ production crew, and over 30 performing cast for one of the biggest student-driven projects within NUS.

Limelight Musicals is currently fully student-run, something we're very proud of. We are also fortunate to receive support from A/P Graham Wolfe (NUS) as an advisor.

If you'd like to join us for our future productions, drop us a message and connect with us on our socials!

Meet the team

Portrait of Joshua Yeo

Joshua Yeo • B.Eng. (Biomed. Eng.)

Joshua's not as scary as he looks! While he's not fooling around with his iconic tophat and cane he's doing just about everything in theatre - including playing Mr Claude in The Projection! His favourite musicals are Hamilton, Hamilton: Proshot, and Hamilton: The Movie.

- Drama Director, "Rewritten" by Limelight (UTown, 2026)
- Sr. Director, "The Foreigner" by Sheares Hall (UCC, 2025)

Portrait of Keiko Ang

Vice-President

Keiko Ang • B.Comp. (Comp. Sci.)

Keiko is the most talented singer I know. She's sung in the opera more times than she has watched musicals, and learnt, what, three different languages to sing opera better? AND she's a computer science student. She's told me her favourite musical is Les Miserables, and I haven't dared to ask if she meant the French original.

Selected Credits
- Music Director, "Rewritten" by Limelight (UTown, 2026)
- Chorus, Puccini's Madama Butterfly by Singapore Lyric Opera (Victoria, 2026)
- Soloist, EuphOpera by Singapore Lyric Opera (Esplanade, 2025)

Portrait of Khanh Bui

Vice-President

Khanh Bui • B.Sc. (Data Science)

KHANHHHHHH is a FABULOUS lying-down singer (if you missed our previous shows, he has a penchant for playing roles which trip and fall) with a range that makes me gasp every single time bro sings. He does a tonnn of band stuff in his free time and plays TFT. He likes Miss Saigon. A lot.

Selected Credits
- Culture Lead, KE7 Hall Committee (2026)
- Head, KE7 Band (2025)

Portrait of Dorian Han

Artistic Director

Dorian Han • LL.B. (Law)

Hi I'm Dorian. I'm the... uh... absentee producer who typed this in Bristol while the show ran. My favourite musical is Cabaret, and my dream is to produce it one day!

Selected Credits
- Producer & Director, "An Unsung Chorus" by Acacia College (UCC, 2026)
- Director, "The Projection" by Limelight (YNC, 2026)

Portrait of Evelyn Teah

Publicity

Evelyn Teah • B.Sc. (Chemistry)

Evelyn worked on The Projection all the way from California, for free, and her phototaking skills are AMAZING like have you seen our cast headshots! And she's a fantastic songwriter, having written some of the best songs in the show! See if you can spot the Disney-inspired ones~

Selected Credits
- Publicity Head, Concert by the Ridge by RVRC (2026)
- Publicity Head, RVRC Band (2025)

Portrait of Alexander Piraveen

Secretary

Alexander Piraveen • B.Eng. (Comp. Eng.)

P.Alex has been a member of NAPC (the backstage/tech society) for a while now and occasionally touches grass by doing sports. I think he's the only one out of the EXCO with a life. Props! (pun unintended.)

Alex likes La La Land.
